Every day people are agreeing to participate and enrolling in clinical trials. We have these individuals to thank for the medical advances and treatment options we have today.
But it is not every day that a well-known sports anchor shares his story of enrolling into a clinical trial. ESPN anchor Stuart Scott accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the 2014 ESPYS last night and during the introductory video we followed Scott as he received news that he has met the criteria and will be enrolled into a clinical trial evaluating a treatment for appendiceal cancer. He has been battling the disease for seven years and has tried twice previously to be enrolled into clinical trials.
By Stuart Scott sharing his experiences with clinical research to the nation last night, he helps increase awareness of the importance of participation to advance medicine and work towards finding cures. To watch Stuart Scott’s journey, click here.
